Founders Bio
Utku Pehlivan: A Ph.D. graduate from Rice University, Utku developed clinical exoskeletal robotics systems used at TIRR Memorial Hermann. With 18 peer-reviewed publications and over 1,300 citations, he bridges innovation and patient care in neuro-rehab.
Kutay Pehlivan: A seasoned engineer with 10+ years in medical device development. Kutay has successfully led the commercialization of three clinical products and now ensures scalable design and manufacturing for HoustonBionics.
Yagiz Can Sisman: A growth strategist with a healthcare background, Yagiz previously co-founded a startup that reached a 20M accessible patient population. He leads partnerships and market expansion for HoustonBionics.
Origin Story
HoustonBionics was born out of Utku's PhD work at Rice University, where he developed rehabilitation robotics and worked closely with clinicians and patients at Texas Medical Center. Seeing the need for accessible, effective at-home therapy, he set out to simplify recovery and empower millions through gamified, high-efficacy rehab at home.
