Founders Bio
The founders, Alex Yau and Dylan Wenzlau, grew up in two distinct parts of the world—Hong Kong and Alaska—shaped by notably different healthcare systems. They previously worked together for over 10 years, leading the AI Assistant team at Graphiq (acquired by Amazon Alexa), where the technology they built powered over 70% of Alexa’s knowledge-based responses.
Driven by their passion to empower everyone with their health information, Dylan and Alex started Guava.
Origin Story
In 2021, Dylan and Alex decided to take their expertise working with large, frequently messy datasets and pursue a problem they were both passionate about: personal health. They saw how fragmented information created delays, missteps in care, and both emotional and financial strain. Patient portals didn’t connect with each other, providers lacked access to relevant wearable data, and tracking apps worked in isolation.
To solve this, they built Guava—integrating health data, simplifying interfaces, and leveraging AI to give patients clarity, control, and the ability to better understand and improve their health.
