About
Famileo helps families stay close and have meaningful interactions between generations by respecting the preferred communication habits of each. Younger family members use the Famileo app to each upload photos and messages and Famileo automatically format the resulting 'family feed' into a personalised family gazette that is printed and posted directly to the grandparent's mailbox, monthly.
Founders Bio
Famileo was founded in 2015 in France by entrepreneur Tanguy de Gélis and Armel de Lesquen.
Around 250,000 families now use the service and over one million messages have been sent through Famileo.
The company employs more than 50 people. Famileo’s newspapers, or gazettes, are read by people in over 50 countries and they are available in English, Spanish and Dutch.
Origin Story
The idea for Famileo was inspired by Tanguy's own grandma. Busy working with a young family, to keep in touch with the wider family we had a Family Whatsapp group and so his grandma could join in, he bought her an ipad as a Christmas present. One day when he went to visit her, he noticed the iPad on her table gathering dust. She said it wasn’t easy for her to use, and that she actually missed the letters and postcards that she used to received (and which she’d kept). It got Tanguy thinking about an app with a digital interface for young people and a newspaper for the elderly. The idea was to help families, no matter where they are or how busy their lifestyle, stay in touch.
