Let’s dive into Christina’s blog!

In the fast-evolving world of AgeTech, visibility is vital. It's not enough to have an innovative product or service; you need to be known. The power of public relations (PR) is key to this transformation. It’s time for your startup to stop being the best-kept secret in AgeTech!

As a PR Strategist, I have helped hundreds of businesses amplify their presence and become known in their industries. My own experience of being featured on television every month has given me insights and strategies that I share with others.

The Value of Publicity for AgeTech Startups

For many AgeTech startups, the idea of landing significant publicity can seem daunting, especially when budgets are tight and hiring a PR firm is out of reach. However, understanding and leveraging PR can be a game-changer. Publicity not only boosts brand awareness but also builds credibility and trust with your audience. When your startup is featured in reputable media outlets, it signals to potential customers, investors, and partners that you are a trusted business and a recognized authority in your field.

The Get PR Famous® Formula

I’ve developed a proven strategy called the "Get PR Famous®" formula, which simplifies the process of gaining media attention. This formula involves three key steps:

  1. Be Newsworthy: Identify what makes your story or startup unique to the audience of a particular media outlet. The goal is to find an angle that will capture that outlet's interest and provide value to their audience, particularly in the context of age tech innovation and its impact on senior living, healthcare, or lifestyle.

  2. Create Great Hooks: Craft engaging and succinct subject lines and pitches that will grab a journalist’s attention. A great hook is the difference between your story being ignored or featured. Tailoring your pitches to highlight the unique benefits your technology offers to the aging population can make your story stand out.

  3. Find the Right Journalist: It’s crucial to find the journalist who covers your topic. It doesn’t do you any good to send your age tech story to a fashion editor (unless it’s related to the fashion industry). Identifying and connecting with journalists who specialize in technology, healthcare, or senior living will increase your chances of media coverage. And don’t forget to pitch in your backyard. Your local media will love to cover a local startup.

By mastering these steps, AgeTech startups can effectively bypass the need for expensive PR firms and directly engage with the media. This leads to relationships with journalists, so they call you when they are covering something in the AgeTech space. This proactive approach not only saves costs but also places your startup ahead of the competition, positioning you as a leader in the AgeTech industry.

The power of PR cannot be overstated. For AgeTech startups, mastering the art of publicity can transform your brand from being merely established to becoming widely known. By embracing the Get PR Famous® formula and developing a media strategy, startups can unlock new levels of visibility and success.
