1. AgeTech is elevated as a tech category!

CES is the largest tech trade show in the US and the AgeTech Collaborative™ returned this year standing firmly in the spotlight. We had our largest activation yet – 12,500+ sq. ft of space, 19 of the best and brightest AgeTech startups and over 26 interactive sessions on the AgeTech stage. We had some of the most influential companies in tech tour our booth and express interest in finding their place in our ecosystem. AgeTech was even a priority for Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as he spent time walking our booth and interacting with our startups.

2. Freestyling with AARP CEO: UTK, Anthony Veneziale and Jo Ann Jenkins take the stage.

Who knew improv and freestyle rap could support and even improve brain health? We held our second AgeTech Summit on the official CES show stage which kicked off with a keynote session from AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins and founding members of freestyle+, moderated by Guy Raz of "How I Built This". Utkarsh Ambdudkar (UTK) and Anthony Veneziale from freestyle+ shared ways that you can utilize different parts of your brain to inspire play into your everyday routine and ultimately improve cognitive health. In a follow up interview, UTK said “The uncomfortable spots that we put our brain in is where the most growth occurs.”

AgeTech After Dark at CES returned with a new location at LAVO and welcomed over 300 guests to watch five startups pitch their solutions to a panel of industry experts for a $10,000 prize. Onscreen won the competition by showcasing their user-friendly tv based solution that keeps aging loved ones connected with their families through video calls, reminders, telehealth and companionship (see their reaction here!). Freestyle+ performed during the event and even tried out their first freestyle pitch!

4. New AgeTech Experiences

This year we incorporated new experiences that included both startups and large collaboration partners to visualize how we can incorporate AgeTech solutions to age better at home.

Samsung Health House at CES was a collaborative showcase with 10 AgeTech startups and Samsung appliances that envisioned how technology can assist older adults age at home and on their own terms. The house was buzzing throughout the four days and became a focal point for any tours that walked through our activation.

MIT Empathy Lab showcased their AGNES (Age Gain Now Empathy System) suit which enables the user to experience the various physical challenges that an older adult may face – including vision loss, mobility issues, and more.

AgeTech Talk included 7+ hours of unique audio that was captured and produced right on the show floor. The content will be utilized in various ways across the AgeTech Collaborative platform. We captured 12 Startup Stories from our very own AgeTech founders and 12 AgeTech Talks which highlighted the voices of thought leaders in AgeTech.
