AgeTech Collaborative™ Spring Inspiration Roundup

By Mark Ogilbee posted 04-20-2023 06:58 AM

We here at the AgeTech Collaborative™ like to stay abreast of developments and trends in all things AgeTech — including topics that could be called “AgeTech-adjacent” — so we attend a lot of conferences, read a lot of books, listen to a lot of podcasts and generally consume a lot of media.

To help inspire your own quest for AgeTech info, here’s a roundup of what’s been on our must-read and must-listen lists this spring.

Books

  • Don’t Make Me Think (Revisited)Steve Krug’s updated classic introduction to user experience (UX) design is an accessible and inspiring guide for designing products for the web — or anything that people interact with.

Podcasts

  • Hard Fork — This podcast from the New York Times offers timely, humorous and thoughtful takes on the latest in tech. Hosts Kevin Roose and Casey Newton explore stories from tech’s bleeding edge.

Conferences

  • In March, members of the ATC team attended the American Society on Aging’s On Aging conference in Atlanta. The event featured illuminating talks about aging and brain health, social isolation, caregiving and more, and provided a chance to meet and converse with other professionals in the aging space.

Media + Tech

  • We’re thrilled that three AgeTech Collaborative™ startups Rendever, SingFit, and Sana Health — are featured in short films in Technology’s Golden Age, a project from BBC StoryWorks.

iPhone shortcuts — We might be late to the party, but we've discovered that creating custom shortcuts on your iPhone is simple, and those shortcuts will save you a lot of time when performing common tasks — such as a 2-tap shortcut to take a screenshot. Plus, from a design perspective, they’re wonderful examples of how inclusive accessibility solutions can be for people of any age.

That's all for now — we'll be back this summer with an update on our latest recommendations.
