Demo Day: Fall 2022 Graduate Startups Pitch Their Products and Services

Back in December, we announced that 9 new startups had completed our intensive, 8-week AgeTech accelerator program and were graduating into the AgeTech Collaborative™ (ATC). Recently, the ATC community marked and celebrated this achievement with a virtual Demo Day: a chance for these startups to meet their fellow ATC members, pitch their products and services, answer questions, and ask investors, testbeds and larger enterprises for help in getting where they need to be with their solutions.

Here are some highlights from each startup’s presentation on the ATC “virtual stage.”

Founder and CEO Dr. Chitra Dorai explained how Amicus Brain’s care platform helps people living with dementia and their families and caregivers in every aspect of care management. Bringing-evidence based insights to bear, a suite of digital, AI-driven, conversational advisors provide point-of-need advice, high-quality resource referrals and self-care options for well-being. There is also a community hub for peer support so caregivers can feel more competent, confident and in control. Amicus Brain’s solution is HIPAA-compliant, and their go-to-market motion is B2B2C, addressing four different market segments, including employee assistance program providers, employers, long-term care insurance companies, and care agencies and memory clinics.

Dentity is an app designed to verify people’s information on the apps you use every day. Jeff Schwartz, founder and CEO, demonstrated how you can use Dentity to increase personal safety by verifying the identities of people who come into your home to provide a service, or for people you interact with online, such as social media or dating apps. Dentity is a document-based solution available in more than 85 countries, using Web3 technologies. Dentity also lets you store your personal information in one cryptographically secure place, versus dozens of websites. Dentity is looking to connect with testbeds interested in collaboration, as well as other apps, products and services that might need blockchain-based identity services.

CEO Mike Dooley described how Labrador Systems’ Retriever robot, a “new tool for independence,” physically moves objects around a home for people whose health issues impact their mobility and daily activities. Retriever can be set to deliver food and perform other activities automatically during the day, enabling caregivers who work outside the home to provide asynchronous care. Labrador Systems is looking to raise their Series A to begin production.

Livindi is an in-home virtual care platform for seniors, caregivers and senior care organizations to communicate, monitor and provide clinical and non-clinical care services. Co-founder Rick Watkins described how aging in place can be isolating for older adults, which can cause mental health issues. Livindi’s easy-to-use tablet serves as a portal for elders to connect with loved ones; its integrated biometric sensors can also monitor vital signs and transmit that data to clinicians. Livindi is raising funds to scale and is looking for investors, pilots and partners.

Glenn Shimkus, co-founder of Prisidio, outlined how Prisidio’s secure virtual vault enables families to collect, protect and share their most important information, including documents, inventories of belongings, and more. Customers simply use their phones to add items to their vault; Prisidio safeguards the information and provides a secure mechanism to share it with others, reducing the burden on family members down the road. Prisidio is working on their seed extension round, seeking feedback on their product and messaging, and looking for companies interested in partnering on a pilot.

Rose Health combines easily accessible yet sophisticated technology with true human connection to deliver the right mental health care to the right patient at the right time. Chief medical officer Dr. Matthew Peters explained how customers use a mobile app to complete assessments and gain access to resources such as live meditation classes. Primary care providers treating mental health concerns can leverage Rose Health to receive reimbursement using well-established but underutilized behavioral health integration (BHI) codes. Rose Health is looking for organizations that can offer them a pilot to further test and validate their solutions, as well as partners to help them with content development, data and biometric collection, and getting their solutions into the hands of consumers.

Nicole Cuervo, founder and CEO of Springrose, highlighted the problems women with limited mobility face when putting on their bras: It takes a long time, can be painful, can exacerbate existing injuries or create new ones, and robs women of their dignity and independence. Springrose designs adaptive intimate apparel that improves women’s quality of life by giving them back their time, their dignity and their independence. Their flagship bra can be put on in a variety of ways — all with one hand. Springrose is seeking introductions to investors interested in joining their pre-seed or seed round, and for partners such as hospitals and senior living communities to advance Springrose’s product development, testing and go-to-market strategy.

Vivo is an online fitness program with a focus on helping older adults build strength and function, from the comfort of their own homes. Founder and CEO Eric Levitan outlined Vivo’s live, interactive small-group experiences for older adults that allows Vivo to provide individualized feedback for everyone, all in a socially engaging, fun experience. Vivo also measures progress and outcomes by collecting data on users’ strength and balance. Vivo is raising a bridge round to scale and drive growth, and they’re looking for distribution platforms and partners for research pilots.

Wheelpad is a modular accessible housing company dedicated to helping people live in a universally accessible home they love, keeping families together and creating true housing choice for all. Director of growth RJ Adler described how Wheelpad can install a unit much more quickly than traditional construction can be completed, and how Wheelpad’s cost is competitive with on-site options, especially compared to temporary housing in a rehabilitation or nursing facility. Wheelpad is looking for a manufacturing facility and for partners to raise capital that will allow Wheelpad to have inventory on hand in order to respond quickly to demand.
