We here at the AgeTech Collaborative™ like to stay abreast of developments and trends in all things AgeTech – including topics that could be called “AgeTech-adjacent” — so we attend a lot of conferences, read a lot of books, listen to a lot of podcasts and generally consume a lot of media.   

To help inspire your own quest for AgeTech info, here’s a roundup of what’s been on our must-read, must-listen, must-watch lists as fall turns into winter.

Books 

• The AgeTech Revolution: A Book About the Intersection of Aging and Technology — Keren Etkin examines how rapidly evolving technology is helping to meet the challenges of aging in the 21st century. 

• The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business — Citing cutting-edge research, Charles Duhigg explores how habits play a potent role in shaping our lives, and how we can leverage that power to make positive personal changes. The book features engaging anecdotes, such as how an aging couple cope with Alzheimer’s by building powerful habits. 

Podcasts 

• How I Built This with Guy Raz —  Host Guy Raz interviews world-class entrepreneurs, who share their own stories of failure and success, as well as their insights into creativity, leadership and more. 

• Masters of Scale — Featuring interviews with noted guests, this podcast hosted by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman is on a mission to “democratize entrepreneurship” by delivering insights on how to scale a startup. 

Apps + Tech 

• With her recipes, entertaining life tips and lively spirit, @brunchwithbabs became an overnight Instagram sensation as “the internet mom / grandma you didn’t know you needed.”

• Also on Instagram, the content featured @retirementhouse by a group of actors who are 50-plus smashes stereotypes about aging in a way that’s joyful, surprising — and sometimes mildly NSFW.

• On another note, we’re excited about this recent policy change at the FDA that will allow people to purchase over-the-counter hearing aids without needing a medical exam or prescription. 

Conferences + Events 

Check out these conferences that we’ve been following and attending in recent months: 

• HLTH 2022 (Las Vegas, Nov. 13–16) — At this conference featuring over 100 sessions with leaders from across the health ecosystem, the AgeTech Collaborative™ hosted a “Jeopardy” game show-style luncheon with questions and answers centered on the longevity economy. 

• HITLAB Innovators Summit 2022 (Nov. 29–Dec. 2, New York City) — This conference features keynote addresses and panel discussions focusing on the future of technology adoption in healthcare. 

• What’s Next Longevity Innovation Summit (Dec. 7, 8 and 13, Washington, D.C.) — This hybrid in-person and online event aims to help entrepreneurs, investors and other leaders in the longevity ecosystem navigate the regulatory environment and make connections across the private and public sectors.
